Appreciation of the Czech global change research(01.07.2011)The best ecosystem sites were assessed at the annual meeting of European research infrastructure ICOS - Integrated Carbon Observation System. Among four top sites the Czech Bílý kříž site in Beskydy Mountains was mentioned and selected as a European demo experimental station, stated. Prof. Michal V. Marek, director of Global Change Research Centre AS CR. The site research is focused on the monitoring of the impacts of global changes, i.e. the increases of atmospheric CO2 concentration and ultraviolet (ultraviolet-B) radiation on forest ecosystems. At present Bílý kříž laboratory works on the monitoring of energy and substances fluxes by eddy covariance technique and the evaluation of carbon pools in various types of mountain ecosystems. |
